Scavenger Photo Hunt - Celebrate 📷 🥳

Welcome to the fifth and last word of the Scavenger Photo Hunt for December AND 2021.

I know this is way late, but I was hoping to get my Momma's birthday celebration included when Nathan and I went for a visit this weekend.

I know I've posted this before, but this is how we normally celebrate birthdays!

Let's hope for a happy, HEALTHY New Year.

We haven't done it every year since we've been married, but lately when we go out to celebrate our anniversary we stop by the chapel where we were married for a photo.

This photo is from my Dad and we've had so many events and celebrations at this table.

This was stitched for a friend to celebrate her 50th birthday.

And what's a celebration without cake?!

Scavenger Photo Hunt - Stocking 📷 🧦

Stocking

Imagine, another oldie from my Dad! 

Growing up, we always had real stockings, filled with small presents, nuts, chocolates, and fruit. Because it was so stretchy, there was plenty in there! It took a while to open them, but it was always fun to see what was inside.

Even as an adult, my parents were still giving me one.

The Gmen didn't mind having a smaller stocking.

I think this was the last year I received one, it just got to be too much!

These were our stockings this year.

Gman1's girlfriend, C, joined us this year since covid hit her house. It was so lovely to have her and I had this stocking that I had made years ago for her to use. It was hanging with Gman1's stocking, but was a little heavy to put back up when filled and Santa was afraid they both might fall.

I made this little stocking ornament for my brother one year. Geaux Saints! 🏈⚜

I saw this on Instagram and thought it was appropriate!

Scavenger Photo Hunt - Homemade 📷🪡🧶

Welcome to the third word of the Scavenger Photo Hunt for December. As always, anyone can join in with whatever inspires you and I can always add it after the sign up is closed. My excuse for being late THIS week? A getaway in Pennsylvania with my girl, Cori!

Now this blog is full of my homemade stitching things and other crafts, even and some baking here and there. Here are some other homemade items from friends and family. 

Handmade

These sweet gnomes were made from a new friend who sells them at our little local Farmers Market. She uses all scrap fabric, aren't they adorable? I bought them for Cori for Christmas. The red hat one is one that his hat comes off and all the little ones where hiding inside!

I made these for Cori, the nutcracker was from last year and I had forgotten to add my name and date on the back. The naughty one is truly appropriate for her, although she's really only a little naughty and mainly nice!

The blanket here is one that my Momma made from scraps of yarn she had leftover from making other blankets. This is my favourite one, even though we have ones from her that have lovely colours knitted together. I love the hodgepodge!

These sweet treats were baked and decorated by Cori while she was visiting her sister one year at Christmas. Her sister the THE ultimate baker!

I almost didn't want to eat them since they were so cute, but they were delicious.

I just received these from her sister tonight, the perfect time to post them!

These were made from my friend, Nina, friends since Jr High, too cute!

She has a laser printer and creates so many fun things.

Scavenger Photo Hunt - Mug 📷🍺

Welcome to the second word of the Scavenger Photo Hunt for December. As always, anyone can join in with whatever inspires you and I can always add it after the sign up is closed. Now this time I have a legitimate excuse for being late... the flu! It took a week, but I'm almost back to "normal".

Mug

These are the mugs in our coffee/tea area, I had to add shelves so that they would all fit. Most of them are mine, but I like to share.

The is from DH's Georgia Tech days when he was in college and we were dating. This tea changes colour when you add lemon, so this mug is perfect.

This was a delicious treat in my Christmas mug. It was nice and warm, hit the spot for sure!

I made these beer mugs for DH's birthday one year.

Oh my, another delicious drink in my mug, and I felt it! German Gluhwein was perfect for this day a few years ago, I even had two.

Sorry for the blurry picture, but this is one of my Dad's photos of the Toby Mugs he collects. I know I've given him a few over the years, but I think he's finally stopped collecting them... no more room!

Luke's Diner, has anyone not seen Gilmore Girls?

A Mill Hill cutie, I can only imagine it has some very good chocolatey cocoa with whipped cream in it.

And I couldn't leave out this "ugly" mug, Chewie! This is how he smiles, it's so funny to see every morning.

Scavenger Photo Hunt - Ornament/Menorah 📷🕎

Ornament

We do have quite an assortment of ornaments, from ones DH made when he was a child, to our own boys creations. They each have a container that has all of their own ornaments to place on the tree and then take with them when they move out.

Here are just a few since our tree isn't up yet and they're still packed away.

I'm pretty sure this is the first cross stitch ornament I ever made. It came in a kit of these snowmen and Santas. I gave this one to my parents and somehow it made it back to my house! I'm pretty sure I still have the kit/pattern somewhere.

I made this cute little guy for an exchange. I think I might need to make one for myself one of these days.

This one is a reminder of last year, but do we really need it?! No matter, Cori likes him!

Menorah

On Friday night, DH and I joined our friends and went to Ellicott City's Midnight Madness.

I saw these menorahs and thought they were perfect to add here.

This was in the antique store I love to shop in.

There were even fun menorah socks!

Scavenger Photo Hunt - Tradition 📷 🗓

Tradition

Every fall, I make at least one pumpkin cheesecake and pull out my Fisher Price people for display.

Sometimes just after Thanksgiving, but mainly on December first, Spike comes out to play! I thought last year was going to be his last year since Nathan was 14 and no longer that interested. Now I'm thinking, why not do it again, I'm having fun! But I am finding it more difficult to come up with new ideas.

I've had Christmas crackers all my life and have continued the tradition with my family. 

At least it's easier to get them here now. My Dad used to have them sent to him from GB, and one year he had a huge box of them sent. My younger brother and I got into them before Christmas to get the trinkets. Nobody could understand why there weren't any trinkets in there when we popped them... I'm sure it was his idea.

Even Spike and Scotch like to join in!

Ah, it will soon be time for Jo's annual Online Advent Calendar, be sure to pop on over starting on December first.

I've been participating every year so it's definitely a wonderful tradition.

Going to a PEEP SHOW! Now I'm not sure if Nathan will want to come next year since he's 15, but I'm hoping!

Scavenger Photo Hunt - Something You See Every Day 📷👓

Something You See Every Day

This is my view in our great room, looking to my right, where I sit at some point every day to stitch, or chill. I've enjoyed seeing the leaves change colour and fall down, and I'm really looking forward to seeing it snow.

This is my view on my left. Good thing DH uses the other sofa to sit on! There is always stitching to been seen since I stitch every day.

And hey, the laundry basket, something else I see almost every day.

Mr Chewie is normally in his bed, although he also likes to sit by my feet sometimes.

Tomorrow, I'll be happy to see my village behind him.

There's always some reason to walk in my craft room daily. That darn cleaning fairy still hasn't shown up.

Lucky me, I get to see this trio daily. Sometimes Gman1 is with C, so maybe I'm not seeing him every day.

We did tell the Gmen to stay here as long as they can so they can save money to hopefully buy something down the road. I'll take it as long as I can get it!

Ah, these two, Maximus and Ming. Even though Max still hides away from Chewie, I have my nightly snuggles to look forward to.

I can't forget this guy, my DH! ❤

I guess looking at myself in the mirror every day counts too?!

My daily stitching lately has been this sweet little angel that I'm making for my Momma.
