A Jersey Girl visit and a birthday 🎂

Going a little backwards, in June, dear Amy came to visit ME for a change! 

I took her to Ellicott City as that is my go-to place, and thought she would like it.

Crossing the bridge, we saw a sweet family of ducks.

And boy was she happy in the E. C. Pops Shop!

This popcorn girl had a lot of tasting to do.

She found a few she couldn't leave without, but no Jelly Bellies!

This poor guy stands outside the shop and I think he's a little sick about it... he's green!

I saw this sweet little Fisher Price sewing machine in the antique depot while we were there. I had seen a photo of it on Instagram recently, so I grabbed it when I saw it! I even had the people at home to go with it. Maybe it will inspire me to pull out my sewing machine to finish some pieces? Or maybe she'll take care of it for me?!

We did get some stitching in, with some "help" from Mia and Maverick.

The last time she was here, I had her try our Maryland pizza at Ledo's. She loved it and here she is bringing some home for her and her husband. I guess it's a change from that NY/NJ pizza!

She gave me my birthday gift a little early since she had to leave. She had asked me what my favourite colour was and now I know why.

I said periwinkle and she went on a hunt for it. She said she had a hard time finding it but when she finally did, it was actually called periwinkle!

I love that one side has the stripes and the other has those lovely hearts.💜💙

A few days later, Kerri came to celebrate my birthday and we went to see Sarah Millican in Baltimore. 

She was awesome! Let me just say, I think there were some very uncomfortable men in the audiance!

She is definitely NOT quiet! 🤣

Such fun together!

She was able to join us for my birthday dinner before heading home, more good times.

And yes, baby Nathan is now the tallest in the family!

A Treasure Found in Ellicott City 🧶

  Last Friday, Karen and I had a shopping and lunch date in Ellicott City to celebrate her birthday a little early.

We found a peek-a-boo bunny on Main Street.

Oh my, look who popped up in one of the fun restaurant windows!

Now here's the treasure I found, it's Karen and I! 😆

I thought the glass was dirty on the outside, but it actually seems to be under the glass.

Originally it said Xmas 1933, but between buying it and bringing it home, it now looks like this.

So, since it's already been torn, do I try and take it apart to clean it? I certainly don't want to damage it if I do that, and obviously won't know until I do. Thoughts or suggestions?

I've thought about stitching Karen a smaller version, but haven't had any luck finding a chart like it... no real surprise since it's from the 30's!

My own choice...

One of my favourite places to spend some time walking and/or shopping, is Historic Ellicott City. It's changed quite a bit since 2016 and 2018, when it had devastating floods rage through the town.

But earlier in the week, DH and I took Chewie for a walk along the Trolley Trail and did some window/miniature train spotting! 

Normally, all of these displays are shown at the Fire Dept in Ellicott City as a Train Garden, but due to darn Covid, it was moved to various windows in the shops on Main Street. It certainly made for a fun walk though!

Along the Trolley Trail, I spotted this piece of wood that totally looked like a dragon to me. Can you see it?

Gordon Ramsay 24 Hours to Hell and Back: Save Our Town - Ellicott City.

This beautiful little town is about 10 miles away from and it's my go-to place for a walk with the family, window shopping, and antique shopping. 

It was devastated by TWO floods, which kept it closed for a while and still has many empty shops.

This clock was recovered in the first flood.

"The clock is a replacement from the original clock that was swept away in flood water in 2016. Pieces of that clock were eventually found. The face is displayed in a museum."

This was from the 2016 flood.

The show was taped in February, and I knew it was going to be crazy busy there so I didn't go take a peak while he was there.
