This past Saturday we went to see my parents for the day while my brother and SIL were visiting them while in town for their short trip.
And it snowed while we were there! Not very much, but it looked pretty.
Addie "talking" to Nathan, telling him about what's been going on.
Oma and Addie.
Addie has really been such a blessing being there, entertaining them and keeping them on their toes! Everyone who meets her loves her, she is precious.
Cathy was hoping it would snow, they rarely get snow in Baton Rouge!
Hard to get a good picture, my brother was pretty toasted happy!
Genuine laughter, something about underwear...
Opa made a sponge cake for the occasion, it was delicious! Although still not quite the same as having it made in the UK, the US ingredients aren't quite the same.
Opa had a chair lift added for Oma, it's getting harder for her to use the stairs even though they were built shorter and longer for her. Nathan was the tester!
This was taken on Sunday, just before they left. They had to hold Oma up, it's getting harder for her to walk and standing up is difficult. I don't think she walks enough, but she doesn't have the energy for it.
My Mom's health overall isn't that great. She was recently in the hospital because her sodium level was so low, they wanted to monitor her heart. It turns out two of her meds were interacting with whatever salt she had added to her food, so now she's taking salt tablets daily. If Dad takes her out for an appointment, she can barely make it back in the house, thus the reason for the chair lift. She's still having to eat pureed foods, I'm not sure she'll ever be able to have proper food again which is upsetting for her. Nathan and I are supposed to visit them again this weekend, so I'm going to make some soup for her to try. It's hard to find the right food to make her, because when it goes through the sieve to take out any chunks, the flavour can change when the spices are crushed. So if any of you have any ideas, please let me know!
On a brighter note, last month Oma celebrated her 81st birthday!
I couldn't come that day, but as a surprise, Opa had some of their friends over for cake and tea.
That weekend, Gman2 and I stopped by on our way to taking him back to school.
And later on that week, Gman1 and C came to visit.
Opa loves to make everyone wear hats when he can, so this time Gman1 got him to wear one!

And thanks, Cathy, for asking about her.
