Friday's Stitching Ground 🎲

Tonight has me stitching with the boys! Well, they're playing CATAN, but I'm stitching at the table with them.
Gman2 came home this weekend - YAY! - and his friend, MrS came over to see him. One of my other sons!

I decided to leave the Invisible Man the way he is for now, I'll see how the rest of the house looks before I decide. Now I'm working on the boring part, the floor and then the walls.

I'm not sure I've shown the witch before, I decided to make her green, change the broom, and change her dress colour. I also added whiskers to the kitty, he looked naked without them! The moon I left as is.

I think Gman2 needed a break from school, but he also wanted to get some of the beer he and his friends "brewed" with DH last month. And hey, they're playing Catan here too!
Gman1 came home to join in on the fun for that game. Nice group of guys, they were in Austria together last semester.

What kind of games do you like to play with family/friends?

What fun to see all the boys together playing a game .
It's sad that not everyone seems to play games , that I know anymore , they mostly play on their phones .

Lovely to have a group of young people round.
In our shop we sell a lot of modern versions of traditional games. We have so many different Monopoly games - from Harry Potter to Marvel. Even Risk and Cluedo have modern variations as well as the classic.
Other popular games include Exploding Kitties and the ubiquitous Cards Against Humanity!
I think board games are definitely growing in popularity again. People have realised they love to compete against each other on their gaming systems and phones and have naturally migrated back to board games. Much the same way the e-reader saw a boost for traditional books.
Then there's all the role-playing games - Magic The Gathering being the most popular here!

Great job on your Haunted Mansion. My sons both get together with friends to play board games (Spirit Island, Dice Forge, Betrayal at House on the Hill). They also play Dungeons & Dragons, Magic the Gathering and Warhammer. Dave & I prefer games like Qwirkle, Sagrada, Yazhee, and Dotzee. I’m not competitive, I just want something fun, quick and not too complicated ... not like our sons.

A lot more younger people seem to be spending weekend evenings at home with a drink and board game, a way to save money maybe? Your guys look like a lovely group.
No, I've not seen the witch before, she's fun.
My granddagughter likes to play the card game UNO.

What a wonderful family/friends evening! Your Halloween piece is so cute! I agree, the cat needed whiskers!

How nice it is to see young people playing a game. I never heard of Catan but will look it up. I enjoy chess but it's difficult to find people to play with, my brother that lives close by plays at a much higher level than myself so it's not a challenge for him. We play Left right center for money sometimes. I love card games but again, no one to play with. LOVE your progress on your stitch and who heard of a cat without whiskers!!

You have a great looking group of young men obviously enjoying their time together. We had a number of 'not ours' sons too - our house was the hang out spot because we had a family room and an open door policy. One way of knowing who our kids were hanging out with and where they were.

Looks like a lot of fun. We have a few new games. Dungeon Mayhem and Dungeons. They are board games like Dungeons and Dragons. When my godson is with us though I love Dungeons and Dragons. He is our game master and is fantastic at it.

What a beautiful family, Astrid! I'm from NC, and will have to find out where the retreats are and when from you. I would love to go to another one. I'm now your newest follower. Love your blog.

It is always nice to have a house full of kids doing something together. I used to love those days. Haunted Mansion is looking pretty good there!

A cat without whiskers?! Your changes, and the whole project, look good. :)

Great progress! I think the cat would look very odd without whiskers. We have dabbled in playing Catan, but we enjoy games like Sushi Go and the Timeline series. Darren and I also enjoy a game of Othello (We used to play it a lot in an evening when we were younger) x
