I'm making this for someone special, her birthday is next month. I was thrilled to find this particular lighthouse on ebay even though I had to buy a bundle of lighthouses, it was a terrific price. And bonus, I bought it on the 31st, so I didn't buy it in the new year!
So looking through my fabric, I found these two which I thought might work. I liked the top one better, it's darker and looks like a starry sky.
But the problem is...
The words looks lost in it. I tried it with two strands and it was too bulky, and one isn't enough.
I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and head to The Stitching Post. I'm wondering if I'll need to use Aida, which I really don't like using. Yes, I'm a fabric snob!
Any other ideas?

Are you using B5200? It is the brightest white I can think of.
Nice pattern Astrid. You could always use a darker color for the words.

Does it have to be white? I'd pick up the color of the water or darker. And that's a beautiful rendition of that lighthouse - been there many times.
Change the colour of the words go for a dark blue ?? take fabbie and do a single strand floss toss and take it from there :) love mouse xxxxx
Make the words dark and then outline the lighthouse?
I'm not sure I like the words in white, perhaps a pale grey would show up on your lovely fabric.
Oh I love the pattern. My mom would enjoy it. She's a lighthouse maniac. I see you posted another post so I'm off to see if you found the perfect fabric.
How frustrating! I like the idea of changing the floss for the words.
I'm with the consensus... change the color of the floss for the words. Grey sounds like a good alternative! IF you don't like that... you will just HAVE to go to your LNS!! Ha!
I'd go for a different colour for the words too. Maybe a dark blue?
