The Tooth Fairy Comes Clean

So this happened yesterday, Nathan pulled out his very loose tooth. A few tears beforehand because it hurt, but he did it!

Then he asked the dreaded question - "Are you really the Tooth Fairy?" Ugh, I'm not ready for my baby to grow up yet! I didn't really answer him, but asked, "Why would I want your old teeth?!"

He went to bed last night with his tooth placed in the wagon tooth pillow, (it used to be DH's and all the boys have used it) with anticipation of what was to come during the night.

I thought about his question and realized at ten years old, he deserves to know the truth when asked. So I wrote this, although DH said I still didn't really answer his question!

He's still getting some money, I made it into an origami shirt and placed it in the wagon. And we're going Lego shopping, an extra plus for pulling it out himself.

He just woke up and came downstairs without checking under his pillow, then ran back upstairs to check!

Well, he's smiling, so I guess he's okay with it.

I really hope he doesn't ask about Father Christmas any time soon, I'm truly not ready for that one!

You could not have put it any better than you did in your letter! Tell DH that you most certainly DID answer the question, and you did it with a great deal of love and magic. :) :)

What a wonderful letter you wrote for Nathan, and what a very special memory you've given him!! Of course you answered his question, and in the very best fashion. Applause for you!

What a great way to handle that question! It's so hard when they start to grow up.

That's so sweet! My son does not comprehend things like fairies and magic but he did watch the Peppa Pig episode with the tooth fairy over and over again when his first tooth fell out! Obviously trying to make sense of it all.
My older son used to get 50p for a single tooth and £1 for the back doubles. We don't have any paper money for less than £5 and he's not getting that much LOL

I always figure that once they start asking about the Tooth Fairy and the rest of the parent's AKAs they are old enough to know. You broke it to him in a very kind way and lucky Nathan; he got an extra added bonus!!
