Distractions, distractions, missing Alaska

My mind must still be in Alaska, I can't seem to get motivated to stitch OR blog!  It might be because it's supposed to be so hot here this week, I miss the cool weather and flying over the glaciers.

This is our visit to the Taku Glacier Lodge via float plane.

Hoping to see bears!

Fresh salmon cooking on the grill.

View from the lodge, that ice is a mile away.  This is also the ice they used for our drinks - after it was cleaned!

A bear!  She got chased into the tree so she wouldn't eat our salmon.

And here she is trying to get down, naughty bear.

Only after the grill is cleaned up, with no remaining food anywhere, is she allowed to eat the salmon oil mixed with sand - yuck!

And here comes Bubba, looking for his share!

But share, he does not!

We were told they have to add sand every few days since the bears eat it all.

She came back when they started the grill for the next group coming in.

So sad, it's time to go.  What a absolutely beautiful place, I'd love to come back.

Here's our ride, and what a ride!  Scenes from a plane to follow... soon.

In honour of seeing the bears, I bought these while in Alaska.

Just a reminder - Mermaid and applique give-a-way, hopefully tomorrow.

I've been trying to catch up on reading blogs, but it's kind of slow.  So just because I don't comment, please don't think I'm not reading them!  If I'm not following your blog, let me know so I don't miss anything.
I think I like Feedly, what is everyone else using?

Just the bear facts Ma'am! LOL What a wonderful experience to see them up that close. I think I would have had a hard time swallowing that salmon knowing the grill was licked clean by a bear.....*shiver*. Can't wait to see you working up those bear patterns!! *hugs*

I've been terrible about reading and blogging this summer too so don't feel too bad. Must be something about summer, way too much to do.

Was looking through your Alaska pics- gorgeous and I'm jealous! Alaska is steadily moving to the top of my wish list for vacation.

Astrid,
Those bear pictures are adorable. Thanks for sharing your trip. I can't wait to see more. It sounds like you had a great time and I can see why it is so hard to get back to your routine.

How are you doing on the traveling pattern?

The bears are great but a bit freaky to be so close to actual wildlife. We don't have anything that big or dangerous here, just the odd rabbit or deer.

I'm using Feedly and prefer the computer version to the ipad app.

I hear you about lack of motivation after a vacation. The project I started back in April sits on the ottoman and periodically mocks me.

You lucky, lucky girl to be so close to those beautiful creatures. Those are some wonderful photos you took. :)

What an amazing trip you had!! Loved the bear photos and those cross stitch kits you got of the spirit bears are lovely. I'm using Feedly and really liking it. It helps me keep track of everyone's blog better than Bloglovin'. With Bloglovin', I was missing blog posts and found it less efficient. Hope that helps!
