More fun than a WIPocalypse!

Our visit to Charlottesville, VA, last weekend was for the graduation of Ms. Meghan, the first cousin to graduate from high school.  She went to a private school in the outskirts of Charlottesville, an absolutely beautiful setting with a Hogwarts atmosphere!

The girls all wore a wrist corsage.

Graduation Day!

Graduation Party!

On Sunday, we were supposed to see a polo match at the King Family Vineyards, but it was cancelled due to the ground not being dry enough from the rain.  Bummer!  BUT, that doesn't mean we couldn't go and enjoy the day and drink some wine!  It was a gorgeous day, just a little hot with a nice breeze.  I think we all became "red necks" that afternoon, just a little burnt!  We plan on going back to see a match another time, and of course drink more wine...

As for stitching, this is what I worked on while in the car - not too much!  I already know I'm going to add the Welsh dragon for St. David's Day, I'm just not sure where I'm going place it.

Scenes from a car - VA

New idea, scenes from a car.  Since I'm not a passenger often, I'm not sure how often this will show up.

This was heading to Charlottesville, VA.

Remembering Zach

Just this week, I saw this video about Zach Sobiech, what an inspiration he was.  I say was, because he died on Monday, May 20th.  Get to know Zach here.

Here's the song he wrote, Clouds.

There are no guarantees in life, but look what you can accomplish when you set your mind to it.  Zach, what a beautiful gift you left, not just for your family and friends, but to people who never got the chance to meet you.

God bless you, Zach, and may He comfort your family and friends until it's time for them/us to go up, up, up.

Clouds
Well I fell down, down, down
Into this dark and lonely hole
There was no one there to care about me anymore
And I needed a way to climb and grab a hold of the edge
You were sitting there holding a rope

And we’ll go up, up, up
But I’ll fly a little higher
We’ll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear
It won’t be long now, it won’t be long now

When I get back on land
Well I’ll never get my chance
Be ready to live and it’ll be ripped right out of my hands
Maybe someday we’ll take a little ride
We’ll go up, up, up and everything will be just fine

And we’ll go up, up, up
But I’ll fly a little higher
We’ll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear

It won’t be long now, it won’t be long now
If only I had a little bit more time
If only I had a little bit more time with you

We could go up, up, up
And take that little ride
And sit there holding hands
And everything would be just right
And maybe someday I’ll see you again
We’ll float up in the clouds and we’ll never see the end

And we’ll go up, up, up
But I’ll fly a little higher
We’ll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear
It won’t be long now, it won’t be long now

A little bit of Hermitting and an Anniversary

Since the gmen had off on Friday, I thought it was a good idea to have them help me clean out the garage.  They weren't too happy about it, but it had to be done.
And guess who these shoes belong to?  I'll claim two pairs of hiking boots that the boys have outgrown, otherwise, it's all theirs!

In between cleaning, soccer and football, I managed to finish my February Garden Journal.  Of course I changed it up a bit, but at least this time it wasn't due to my mistakes!

Here's January, I forgot to post this one finished.

And tomorrow, I'm off to my LNS to get my supplies for March and April.  As a special treat, I get to meet DJ for breakfast!

Today was our 18th wedding anniversary. Phew, we made it anther year!  Flowers and dinner, I was a happy girl.. and the night is young!  ;)

May TUSAL & more TARDIS fun

DJ came over on Friday to stitch... Ha!  Max decided he liked her lap and Nathan had to show her his Pokémon book.  But we did eventually get to stitch, even though she forgot her glasses.

I know it's hard to see, but I had to use Garrett's poster!  I promise I've been doing quite a bit of stitching, especially last weekend, but it just doesn't seem like very much.

How cool is this dress?!  I love it!  Too bad I'm too old for proms and I don't think DH would like me wearing this to his company party.  Although it is an aerospace company, so it might just work!

Triple Treats!

My first treat was waiting for me when I got home from my stitching retreat.  I won Carolyn's Just Nan give-a-way!  I'm not going to make it yet, still waiting on summer to hit!

My second treat was the volunteer appreciation at Nathan's school.  "Flower" baskets made by the kindergarten classes, and the band and chorus performed for us.

I'm sure I picked the one Nathan made!

My third treat was a total surprise from my gf, Karen - my own Just Nan Needle Tweet... with needles!  One of the women from the retreat made one and I thought it was adorable.
I LOVE IT, thanks so much my dear Karen!!!  Oh, and she also sent Gummi Bears, but Nathan wants some.  I guess I won't be soaking them all in vodka!

Holy Crab, What a Weekend!

I'm really not even sure where to begin, but...
... what a weekend!  I was ever so lucky/blessed/humbled to be included in a stitching weekend at St. Michaels with DJ and friends!

Crossing over the Bay Bridge was no problem, but what should have taken about 1.5 hours ended up taking about four.  An accident caused the backup, luckily no one was seriously hurt.

This is what four women bring with them on a stitching retreat!

 Our views...

What fun, everyone had something to put in a goodie bag for each other.  I felt like a kid again opening everything!

In between the laughter, kidnapping, eating, and finding more things to stitch, this is what I worked on.  But I can't believe I didn't have my Kreinik with me to finish my Trick or Treat Fairy!  I brought every other DMC colour and that's what I forgot?!

Here's two of the videos we couldn't stop laughing over, take a look...
Worry about yourself... you drive!  &  Call me Maybe

Sadly, the weekend came to an end and we all had to sail away home... until next year!!!
