Fully Finished Gallery - March 2026 🖼 AND a Happy Belated St. David's Day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Since Rachel @Ten Hour Stitcher is on a hosting/posting break, I created this little guy until she returns.

This was a quick little finish especially for St. David's Day, March 1st.

Once I saw this pattern in February by Nia Cross Stitch, I knew I had to get it! I wanted to stitch the Welsh Lady first, then at some point I'll stitch it all.

Here she is with a couple other finishes I have for Wales.

My St. David's Day display for this year.

I bought this sweet pattern while in Wales last summer at Luna and Lola's in Holyhead. Also by Nia!

Too bad the Welsh side of my family was over five hours away, to far to see them.

And for some fun, I merged these two photos at the Philadelphia Flower Show I went to the day after St. David's Day. 😂

Maja at The Snowflower Diaries offered the Joyful World SAL way back in 2016, and here is March. I started stitching it in German for meine Mutti, although I still have to finish Oct - Dec. She saw the ones I stitched, but sadly never got to see them all finished. I will continue them in German and will think of her every time I see them.

At least I should have this one to show every month!

I stitched this little one for St. David's Day. You can sort of see the sparkles in the fabric.

And here they are together, on the shelf I bought in Havre de Grace on St. David's Day.

A St. David's Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Adventure

Since I couldn't make it to Wales that day, I went to the twin city of Havre De Grace instead.

My friend, Jeff, joined me in the adventure.

The big fish made up of lots of little fish.

These are just a few of the wooden carvings on the pier near the Concord Point Lighthouse.

And you can't be near the water without a mermaid!

One of the stores we went to was Washington Street Books and Music. It was like going to a movie museum. Later this year they are going to acquire lots of the Hunger Games clothing, that should be fun to see.

So sad, this was only a few of the stitched pieces I saw in the antique store.

I did find this treasure for only $10. I'm going to replace the duck with a monthly series I'm almost finished with.

All in all, a great day!

The Cream of Leek Soup and Welsh Rarebit that night was delicious, I need to make the soup more often.

A Happy St. David's Day to you! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

St. David is the patron saint of Wales. To celebrate the day, people can wear a daffodil and/or a leek; the national emblems of Wales. 

"While preaching to a crowd in the village of Llanddewi Brefi, David is thought to have performed his most famous miracle: some of the crowd were finding it difficult to hear the sermon, when a white dove landed on David’s shoulder. As it did, the ground on which he stood is said to have risen up to form a mighty hill, making it possible for the gathering crowd to finally see and hear him. The dove became St. David’s emblem, often appearing in his portraits and on stained-glass windows depicting him. Today, a church stands on the crest of the special hill."

This is my display this year, with a newly acquired stitched daffodil cloth that I bought from Needleworkers Delight on a sale they had on their display items. It's so beautiful!

I made Welsh cakes today, and they turned out okay. I used a different recipe from the one I usually use and it made a smaller batch. I think my original recipe tastes better though.

And tonight? Cream of Leek Soup and Welsh Rarebit.

I just finished stitching this sweet little daffodil and painted the frame since it was too dark before.

An oldie, but a goodie, the series I have yet to fully finish!

I thought with the crazy weather we've been having that our daffodils might actually bloom in time, but nope. I have seen them in other yards, but ours just isn't warm enough I guess!

Today I'll be heading to Havre de Grace, which happens to be the twin city of Mumbles, Wales, where my cousin lives!

It's that time of year again, Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus!

That's Happy St. David's Day to those who don't know Welsh. 😉

"Saint David, or Dewi Sant, as he is known in the Welsh language, is the patron saint of Wales. He was a Celtic monk, abbot and bishop, who lived in the sixth century. During his life, he was the archbishop of Wales, and he was one of many early saints who helped to spread Christianity among the pagan Celtic tribes of western Britain." There's a mini lesson for you!

This is me, taken in Wales before we moved to the states in 1969.

The Welsh love spoon my Nana Nesta and Pop gave us when we got engaged.

They also gave me this one when I turned 18 in the UK.

These are a couple "oldies".

I made this one for my Dad a few years ago.

I added the Welsh Dragon to this March stitch.

Another oldie, Nathan enjoying the Welsh cakes he helped me make! I haven't made any yet this year, I think I'll wait until I see my parents so they can enjoy them too.

My daffodils have never bloomed in time.

But this one is from April years ago.

With Pop, visiting family in Maesteg, they still live there.

My Dad just recently received this photo from a relative in Wales. This is my grandparents grave at Llangynwyd Church. He added the * where it's written in Welsh. (Although it's not that hard to figure out!)

I think since tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, I might make some Welsh Rarebit, Leek and Potato Soup, and Bara Brith for dinner... we'll see!

Goodbye Valentine's Day, Hello St. David's Day!

I have a little addition this year.

This sweet daffodil was a Mill Hill kit, but all in beads. I didn't like the way it looked, so I changed it to DMC and just added the beads to the flowers. I like it much better.

This year the currants were up to par, so Welsh cakes were made!

Friday's Stitching Ground AND Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Today's stitching ground brings me to my craft room where I pulled just three green threads. Getting ready for that green day, but first...

... Happy Saint David's Day!

I realized I didn't have anything for today so I stitched this up yesterday and finished it today.

Not included in my Welsh display are tea towels, tshirts, and jewelry!
The big love spoon was given to me from my Pop and Nana Nesta when I was visiting them in Wales when I turned 18. The smaller one is also from them when DH and I got engaged.
I'm not sure why we didn't get a wedding one, but I think I will have one made next year for our 25th.

I added the Welsh Dragon to my March Garden Journal.

And that's me before we moved to the states, in my Welsh Hat. 

So this is what our daffodils look like as of today, I'm lucky if I can even find them at the store!

I was going to make Welsh Cakes today, but when I pulled out my currants, I couldn't use them. I guess I didn't seal them well enough and they were rather, moldy. That sort of put me off making them today, so I'll try again tomorrow after I get a fresh box!
So instead, I'll share this photo of my little helper taken about seven years ago. Yikes!
