Friday's Stitching Ground 🌹

This afternoon I decided to bring out this lovely piece, it's been quite a while since I worked on this one.

It doesn't look like I did very much since I'm working on the backstitching, but it's a start.

I did finish this one though, I'm just not sure how I'm going to finish it yet.

This evening Nathan and I went to another drive-in movie, it was Guardians of the Galaxy. Before we arrived, it was pouring rain with thunder and lightning at home so we weren't sure what to expect here. Well, it was beautiful!

We had a great view - the moon, the movie, and heat lightning!

When we arrived home, Chewie's brother, Zoom, was over for a visit and apparently I'm not allowed to go to the bathroom without them wanting to follow and help me. Thanks guys, I'm good.

It seems I also needed assistance in drinking a margarita. Guess who's in his crate sleeping off his very active play date?

How's the weather been with you lately? I'm a little tired of this heat wave we've been having, but so glad we've had some rain in spite of it being a little severe! This was from this evening, our rain garden was filling up.

Friday's Stitching Ground 🎥

This Friday was rather busy, with TWO stitching grounds!
This afternoon I was stitching in DH's brew area while he was brewing a new beer.

I was also partaking in this amazing sour, it was delicious!

Still slow going, I want to finish everything outside of the house before doing the last room and the front door.

On a side note, I got these earlier in the afternoon at the local Dollar Tree. More travel cases, always nice to have extra on hand and something a little different than what I have.

This evening there was a beautiful sunset at the fairgrounds.

We went to the fairgrounds for a drive-in movie night and I was able to get some stitching in while we waited for it to start.
After a 90+° day, it was actually cool enough that we could open the windows and sunroof and it wasn't too hot.

Unfortunately at this point, it got a bit breezy and the screen went a bit wonky and then deflated. But not for long, they got it up again and we got to finish the movie.
This will be a weekly occurrence for the rest of the summer, with social distancing and masks in place when you're not in your car. Not sure what next week's movie will be, they'll be posting it tomorrow.

The recipe is for a Gingerbread Cake, which apparently I need to bake today since it's National Gingerbread Day!

The movie suggested is The Professor and the Madman.
I can't say I've heard of this, but Sean Penn and Mel Gibson... ok!

Sandy @ Stitching & Life in a Small Town has this lovely summer freebie, I think I'll be stitching it too!

I normally make this during the Christmas holidays, but some stores have frozen cranberries year round. I'm willing to try blueberries to see how it turns out as a summer cake.

I couldn't decide on one movie to suggest, but this was my first. I remember watching The Man for Snowy River years ago and I loved it.
"Jim Craig has lived his first 18 years in the mountains of Australia on his father's farm. The death of his father forces him to go to the low lands to earn enough money to get the farm back on its feet. Kirk Douglas plays two roles as twin brothers who haven't spoken for years, one of whom was Jim's father's best friend and the other of whom is the father of the girl he wants to marry. A 20 year old feud re-erupts, catching Jim and Jessica in the middle of it as Jim is accused of letting a prize stallion loose."

I also chose this series, Doc Martin, which is set in the beauty of Cornwall.
"Dr. Martin Ellingham (Martin Clunes), a London-based surgeon, relocates to the picturesque seaside village of Port Wenn, where he establishes himself as the area's general practitioner. He grew up in the area, having been raised by his now-widowed Aunt Joan Norton (Stephanie Cole). His reasons for leaving London and the high-paid life of a surgeon are not clear initially but related to a phobia he has. He soon meets several of the locals and eccentricity abounds. Martin's situation is made more difficult by what can only be referred as an almost complete lack of an acceptable bedside manner. He is gruff, abrupt, and intolerant, not only in issues related to medicine, but to life in general. He and the headmistress of the local school, Louisa Glasson (Caroline Catz), are clearly attracted to each other and, despite their awkwardness, slowly develop a relationship."

I couldn't resist including Anne with an E, another one I thoroughly enjoyed watching.
The adventures of a young orphan girl living in the late 19th century. Follow Anne as she learns to navigate her new life on Prince Edward Island, in this new take on L.M. Montgomery's classic novels.
