News on my Mom ๐Ÿ˜Š

Last week my Mom was admitted to the hospital again, to ICU then the High Level of Care Unit. She had coughed so much she was having trouble breathing. Dad called the ambulance, but he had already taken his sleeping pill so he couldn't follow behind. Their lovely neighbour called because she saw the flashing lights and she ended up taking him there AND STAYED WITH HIM UNTIL SHE TOOK HIM HOME IN THE MORNING! What a blessing she was/is!
They eventually said it was a piece of food that ended up in her lung and became septic. Then her bp was too low, her heart rate too high, and/or maybe the other way around?! So it's back to a pureed food for her and she isn't very happy about it!
At least they try to make it look like what it's supposed to be - mashed potatoes, carrots, chicken, and berries.

More mashed potatoes and beef, but the broccoli and pineapple are kind of hard to make it look what they are.
She'll have another swallow test in 4-6 weeks, but I have a feeling she might need to stay on it for good.

I was able to go see her during the week and stay a night to keep my Dad company. How nice that it was the day she was released from ICU!

Here's Gman1 and his girl, C, visiting Oma on the way home from the lake on Sunday.

Nathan came with me for this visit, and luckily it was the day she could come home!

She's waiting for the "chariot" for discharge!

I delivered her home and she was thrilled to be back.

And finally, she gets to see her Addie!

Here's Dad peeking in on Mom while taking Addie for a walk.
It's such a relief to have her back home, for us all!

This is what I've been working on when I came to visit her in the hospital, and now at home. She asks about it and likes it... I think it might not be for me after all!

So happy to hear your Mom is home! Hopefully she continues to improve and I'm sure she will with that sweet little furry body to love her to bits - and your Dad to wait on her hand and foot.

I am so happy to hear she is home. I hope she will continue to make good progress. She is so lucky to have all of the support you and your family are able to give. That nice neighbor too. I will keep you all in my prayers.

I have been praying for your Mom. I can see how happy she is to be home with Addie. I am sorry she may just have to be on pureed food. Maybe soft foods will work out too? Their neighbor is a real angel!

I'm sorry your mom had to spend more time in the hospital, but I'm glad she's home now. BTW, she looks really good. Your Queen Bee just might be finding a different home than you planned!

Aah your poor Mom. I do hope she feels better soon. I will keep her in my prayers. Your Queen Bee is adorable...how about making two so you both have one? I'll be gone for a week but will catch up with you when I get back Astrid. RJ

Well she is the Queen Bee of the family! Seriously though I am glad it wasn't something more than that and she has recuperated. That poor woman has been through so much in the last couple of years; but both your parents are always smiling!

Oh and really...that is broccoli? ummm...yuck! LOL

Good news mum is home again. Addie is certainly a sweetie, what a cute face she has. It must have really cheered mum to see you all.

So glad to hear your mom is home again. Pureed food might not look the most appetising but at least the nutrition is mostly there. I'm sure adorable Addie will help her feel much better too. :)
