More fun than a WIPocalypse!

Our visit to Charlottesville, VA, last weekend was for the graduation of Ms. Meghan, the first cousin to graduate from high school.  She went to a private school in the outskirts of Charlottesville, an absolutely beautiful setting with a Hogwarts atmosphere!

The girls all wore a wrist corsage.

Graduation Day!

Graduation Party!

On Sunday, we were supposed to see a polo match at the King Family Vineyards, but it was cancelled due to the ground not being dry enough from the rain.  Bummer!  BUT, that doesn't mean we couldn't go and enjoy the day and drink some wine!  It was a gorgeous day, just a little hot with a nice breeze.  I think we all became "red necks" that afternoon, just a little burnt!  We plan on going back to see a match another time, and of course drink more wine...

As for stitching, this is what I worked on while in the car - not too much!  I already know I'm going to add the Welsh dragon for St. David's Day, I'm just not sure where I'm going place it.

Hermitting and WIPocalypse - just a little late

Another hermitting weekend started with a concert!  This time it was JJ Weeks Band, Hawk Nelson and MercyMe.  They were all great and I even bought a JJ Weeks Band cd since I hadn't heard of them before.  I'm loving these concerts!  Of course, DJ and family came, my MIL and our newest concert clan member, Teresa.  I wonder who we'll see next...
We had a rather unpleasant situation arise while we were there - DJ, mil and I decided to check out the merchandise that was being sold in the main area during one of the bands playing.  Not a problem until we came back to find two women in our seats.  DJ's son tried to tell them someone was sitting there but one of the women insisted that she doesn't believe in saving seats in church.  Um, what?!!!  Just because you came late, you think you can sit wherever you want?  Does that mean you can't even use the restroom in fear of losing your seat?!  Well, her friend left but this woman refused to move.  Luckily, there was enough room for us, but my mil was NOT happy!  Long story short - she ended up leaving and during intermission the people around us told us how rude she was and how she wouldn't listen to DJ's son.  Then I saw them head to the front - I hope no one left their seat to use the restroom!

So I didn't get a lot of stitching in last weekend, but I'm so close to finishing this!  I've been working on some smaller projects but can't show them because they're for next weekend.

I know I have other WIPs I should be working on, but that would mean I'd have to find them first.

Loving the full moon!

February Fun and a WIPacolypse

Nothing like winning orange rice crispy treats at Bingo, with sprinkles too!  He spied those when we arrived and was lucky enough to hold a winning baked goods ticket.  The gmen won too, Nathan helped Garrett pick iced brownies - now that's what I'm talking about!  BTW, he does actually brush his teeth, they aren't normally green!  Silly ring pop.

I'm just a little bit further along with One Nation, still a long way to go!  DJ and I are doing a SAL with this and I think I've fallen a bit behind.

I'm almost finished with my Trick or Treat Fairy and if I just sat down long enough with it, I could be done!  DJ is coming over on Friday to stitch/talk/laugh, so I think I'll make the effort to finish it then.

Taken at o'dark thirty in the morning!

The best news for February was that our perc plan for the new house has finally been approved!  This adventure will be on a different "blog" and if you're interested in following it, just let me know by commenting here or sending me an email.

September WIPocalypse and a Sweet Surprise!

Still working on beading, I love the way it looks!  I know it's hard to see in this picture, I haven't done enough for it to really show.  I want will be done by THIS weekend!  Then onto the framing part - DJ, I'll need your input!

Look what I received from my gf last week!  You know when you have a friend you haven't seen in what seems like forever?  The kind you always know will be there for you even when you don't see each other very often?  The kind that can drive you crazy, but you love them anyway?!  Yeah, that's her!  Well, we hadn't seen each other in quite a while and really needed to get together, so she sent this as a wonderful surprise.  She knows how much I love Halloween, so in my goodie box were sweets, cookies, brownies, and even a Halloween bag, wahoo!  This bag will be great for toting my Halloween stitching with me.
The only "problem" I had with this was sharing with the rest of the family!  DH loves iced sugar cookies and the boys are always hungry, especially for treats.  But I played nice and shared my goodies, it was a fun treat for us all.

So my dear friend, I'm not sure you read this, but thank you.  Totally unnecessary, but very much appreciated.  I'm so glad we actually got together yesterday afternoon and I'm looking forward to our next outing!  Love you and miss you lots.  ♥

August WIPocalypse and a Love/Hate

Since I can't show you what I was working in the beginning of August, I can show you what I was working on at the end of August.

And here is my love/hate relationship - KREINIK!
I ♥love♥ the way it looks, but hate actually using it!  Between the knotting, not looking even and general frustration, I think that's why I've been putting off finishing this.  But I will stitch on, the beading awaits and it must be finished in time for Halloween to hang on my wall!
Any thoughts or suggestions for using this PITA wonderful thread?

Belated July WIPocalypse & Philmont

I've been taking a little break from my Trick or Treat Fairy, October is still three months away so I think I'll be fine.

I started this one earlier in the year and made a mistake - put it away because I just didn't feel like dealing with those darn frogs!  This was supposed to be DH's birthday present, but since his birthday is on the 20th, I don't think it will be for THIS year.

On June 30th, my three men headed off to New Mexico for two weeks on their Boy Scout trip to Philmont.  They hiked over 84 miles in about 10 days.  No showers and no toilets - no way I could have done that!  I'm very proud of them and missed them loads!  Nathan and I had our own adventures, that will be my next post.

At the airport
Sandia Peak
Mount Baldy
Finally home!
The crew

They came in late Sunday night and Garrett didn't even want to walk on the moving walkway!

And this is what I got to do today... clean these dirty, stinky, yucky, grimy, grungy, nasty smelling clothes.  So far so good, they're been washed twice with multiple cleaning products - two loads down, one in the machine.  What tricks do you have to get the stink out?  I'm sure this won't be the last time I'll have to do this!

Late June WIPocalypse & 8th Grade Grads!

Well, I've done the pumpkins, just very slow working on the vines and webs.  I haven't been stitching very much, life seems to have gotten in the way!  I think I needed a break from her anyway, just not sure how long it will last.  My goal is to have her finished and framed by October, so I still have some time to put her aside... at least for a little bit.

After eight years at St. Louis School, our gmen graduated in the beginning of June.  The graduation ceremony and reception was very special and just seeing all those kids dressed up was amazing.  They all seemed so much older than 14!
Their graduation gift was finally getting mobile phones... they said they were the last of their friends to get one!  We always knew where they were and didn't want them to have the distraction.  DH wanted to get them a smart phone and luckily, they didn't want one - I know I didn't think they needed one!  Within two days, there were 1900 texts and only about 17 were mine.  Guess they found all their friends!

After the ceremony and reception.
Four generations!

The godparents - to all three boys!

My brother and four of his five kids.

My boys!

The very proud parents!

So much more going on, but that will have to be in another post.  Hopefully sooner than later!

May WIPocalypse, late once again!

Still working on my fairy - she was easy, the pumpkins are giving me a hard time!
I have also seen two finished pieces, both had such wonderful fabric I'm thinking I should have picked something else.  But, too late for that, I'm sure she'll be just fine.
Has anyone ever tried to colour or stain the fabric after it was stitched?  I thought about tea staining around her, but not sure I really want to mess it up.

Nothing else too exciting going on, except we had a meeting with an architect/designer this week and need to find out a couple things with the county before going forward with the house.  Still playing with the building blog and not sure I'm doing it quite right so I need to work on it some more.

Imagine... a belated WIPocalypse for April

I am so behind on my blogging - too much to post (wedding, birthdays, family and friends) but it will be coming...
I'm also very behind on commmenting on other blogs.  I really should comment straight away - otherwise I just forget!
Anyone interested in following a house building blog?  Hopefully sooner than later.

Max thinks he's helping me by pulling on the floss... not!!!  I think she's coming along nicely and can't wait to finish her up, do a few little things, them start my mermaid.

WIPocalypse for March

I finally finished my snowman mittens!  Well, sort of... I need to really finish them and make them into "mittens", but to hang on the tree.  This is the one I had to flip visually so they would match.

It was a slow month - but my next post will show what I did over the weekend!

WIPocalypse for February

What's cooking?  Certainly not the cats and my stitching has been on the slow cooker!  I did have a stitching date with DJ today (yeah!), so I got some done...

Looking forward to another stitching gals date on Sunday, I could really get used to this!

I'm still working on the baby piece, it's slow going.  I'm not sure I'm going to make the same thing for my other grandnephew, once might be enough!

I messed up on One Nation and haven't got around to frogging it yet, so no progress on that one.  After sorting through my stash, I "found" a wedding sampler I started almost 20 years ago.  The sad part - it only needs a small amount of backstitching, the names and date, and then framing.  I guess I"ll tell her I wanted to make sure the marriage would last!  So next month I hope to have that finished and who knows what else I may find.

WIPocalypse for January & an Apology

I'm still working on Woody, but only have to finish the outlining!  Nathan is being so patient, but he's wishing it was done already... me too.

I'm not even sure where to start once I finish this, but DJ and I are supposed to start One Nation, hopefully soon.  Oh, and I need to finish my monthly owls from Oak Haven Designs!

I'm a little overwhelmed at home at the moment, still cleaning up/out toys and stuff.  And this doesn't even include my craft area - stitching, cards, stamps, etc, are everywhere!  Once this is cleaned up/out, I get to put all the Christmas decorations away - oh joy.

I just wanted to say I'm so sorry for not commenting on any blogs recently.  I'm showing that I'm behind on 93 94 at the moment.  That also goes for my Yahoo groups, I haven't been keeping up with reading them either.

And how sad is this... I'm late on sending my pen pal her December goodie and I've had it stitched since the beginning of December... just not put together!  But I also wanted to get a few goodies and couldn't get them until after Christmas while we were at the lake.  Another goal this week - sending it out and finish getting organized!
