Blogging Comment Question

Okay, I have a question for all my fellow bloggers/friends about comments left on your blog... how do you respond?
I have just recently started to respond to comments, so sorry I didn't in the past!  I've been emailing the person directly from the notification email I receive - as long as there is an email to respond to.
On my comment section, I have enabled the comments to show reply, but wouldn't the person who wrote the original comment need to have clicked "Subscribe by email" to see it?  Does any of that make sense?
I know I don't always subscribe after leaving a comment on a blog, but am wondering if I should?

Example - Here are two comments on my post "Our 2nd Jingle Bell Walk for Arthritis"

Astrid,
What a great family/friend walk for an important cause. You have a great group and the pic of your Mom and Dad is so sweet.
Hugs!

  1. Are you parents from Essex UK or were they on holiday?

Now I did respond by emailing both Carolyn and Nicola, but thought about just replying to Nicola on my blog since she asked a question.  Would she have seen it if she didn't subscribe?  Or should I just do both?   (btw, my parents were living there at the time - might have to have my Dad guest blog about it!)

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful, or maybe I'm just spending too much time thinking when I could/should be stitching?!  This is what happens when I'm sick with a stuffy cold, no energy, and a new laptop!

Hello Astrid. Yes, I just reply to the bloggers we can reply to right away once I receive the email notification. I never used the reply to comment option on the blog, I figure they have to check back or subscribe.

I now have the reply option. It is under 'settings', 'posts and comments' and I believe use the embedded option for comment location.

BUT...I agree with Vickie. While I do have that option, I don't think people check back to see responses. Email is a for sure way to reply and for them to see it. I just like having the option if I want to use it.

Hope this helps!

Oh duh...you have the reply option and I told you something you already knew! BOL! I need more tea.

So, this still leaves the question...and I don't think one will know of a reply....sorry

I always respond by emailing the person back as I never remember to click the subscribe by email button. Also alot of the blogs have 20 or 30 comments per post and I really don't need all those by email too!!
Sometimes I'll add a personal bit to the email that I wouldn't put on the blog, especially if it's someone I know well.

I reply via e-mail since that's how I receive all my comments I never actually go to my blog! LOL!

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Astrid,
Both Vickie and Parsley have good advice. I would rather respond right away through the email.

Hugs!

I know when I leave comments I always just click reply and still get an email telling me when they have responded to it...

I always send an email back

I usually just reply by email but sometimes if the same question/comment is made several times I reply on my blog as well. To my shame and disappointment with myself/my busy life - I don't always get to reply at all!

I am following the trend.... I receive any comments on my posts as emails so respond back by email as long as the person has an email address. I must admit I always forget to go back to my blog and reply to the comments directly on the post so email works for me... Most of the time!

I reply via email if I can get to it! I have revisited a blog and noticed that the blogger responded to my comment via the comments...didn't know that they had because I suppose I didn't subscribe?! That's news to me and also what puzzled me about that option. There are many bloggers who don't have emails though attached to their blog so it can make it difficult to respond/answer any comment or question they had.

I just email a reply if they don't have an email attached well they can't expect a reply.
