So one of my girlfriend's is celebrating her 50th birthday next month. There's a group of us going to the beach in Delaware for a weekend to celebrate.
There will be wine involved, but I'm sure it won't be quite like this!
My thought for a birthday gift was to stitch this, but to also include the ladies coming, the date, the beach, and the wine she likes. I thought I would add it to the outside of the border. I won't be using this frame since it won't fit if I do that, but maybe use a beach theme.
Anything thoughts as to how? Backstitch or block? Same style, something different? Just on top and bottom, or include the sides?
And other ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

That sounds like a wonderful weekend. I grew up in Delaware and spent many days at Rehoboth, Lewes, Broadkill and Dewey. Fond memories, I have not been back in ages. I would suggest adding a coordinating mat border and you all could write on it in a metallic sharpie. Will you be visiting Nicola's or Grottos?
I think it would look great if you backstitch the information all away around the outside border.

I'm sure whatever you decide to do will be greatly appreciated by your friend. A lovely way to celebrate a special birthday.
I like the idea of backstitching round the edges of the piece too.
Here's a joke to share:
What did the grape say when the woman trod on it?
Nothing, it just gave a little whine.
hahahaha
I love the idea of a mat border- we have a wedding photo with a wide mat that everyone in our wedding party and some other close family members signed and left messages on for us. It was a wonderful gift and we love it. You could do something similar and have the ladies attending all sign the mat. Whatever you choose though I'm sure the recipient will love it.
