Taking the Plunge

Okay, I did it, I bought TWO Heaven and Earth Designs.
Am I feeling well, do I have a fever, or am I just plain crazy?!
It's taking me way too long to finish my other smaller pieces, but I bought them anyway - they're dragons, how could I not?!  I think I'm going to start with the smaller one first, AFTER I finish the two I'm currently working on.  Well, maybe after I finish one of them, I don't know if I can wait that long.

So for those of you who are pros at stitching these, any suggestions?  The 89 colours is starting to scare me!

I bought a new light, he's it's very illuminating.  When Ming tried to check it out and get inside, he pushed and nipped her away, big bully!

Awww! That is cute. The good lighting will definitely help. I haven't stitched a HAED.

Love the new light!!! So realistic :D
I'm new like you at Haed. I've got 2 too & started them only very recently. Just take one square at a time or if you prefer to stick to one colour to start with... Up to you really! I've just finish my first row on the first page!!! It's taking for ever but the end results (in a decade maybe) will be stunning, well worth it!!! Good luck x

Love the charts you got from HAED. I have stitched a few of them myself and I am doing a BAP from them now.
One stitch at a time. Many people work in blocks of 10x10. I myself am a cross country stitcher, so I do one color for a full page and then move on to the next color, and so on until the page is complete.
However you decide to work it, just remember that in the end, you will love what you have created. Seeing it come to life as you work on it is amazing.
HAED has a bulletin board that has a lot of information on it, if you aren't a member, check it out. They have a link on their home page.

Love your new Ott lite! :)

I too have many Spangler's, though I have NOT started a darn one yet. Hoping to start the Booklets one day soon though.

Oh my Astrid. I actually bought some HAED's a few years ago not really knowing how involved and huge they would be on 14ct. Haven't been brave enough to start one. Love the ones you got. Good luck with them. I just adore the kitty in the box.

What a cute lighting device - I have one quite similar, just in a different colour ;) hehe

Yay for your HAED purchases! Just take them at your own pace and enjoy, it isn't a race after all :)

With HaED projects, I find gridding your material to be really really helpful! There is a red plastic floss you can use, or you can get a fabric pen and draw the grid. Be careful with the pen, though. I've head stories that it doesn't always come out when washed.

I think you have picked brilliant patterns. Dragons! I love dragons!

I bought myself one of those OTT Lights at Christmas time, then my youngest son Jordyn stole it for painting his miniatures, so I had to buy another one. I can't believe how much light they give off.

I haven't taken the plunge with Heaven and Earth. I love the dragon designs too!!
Good luck, I'lll be watching your progress on them.

Jeepers I'm so far behind!! So...Max lights up your life eh? LOL!!! I can't wait to see your start on one of these HAED designs!! I have no advice, but I do like the way Trish works on hers. You can see a picture forming as you work, but all those threads would confuse me.
