Scavenger Photo Hunt - Dog 📷🐶

Welcome to the third word of the Scavenger Photo Hunt for August. As always, anyone can join in with whatever inspires you and I can always add it after the sign up is closed. Here I am, late again.
This week's word is -

Dog
The first seven photos were taken by my Father, I wasn't into picture taking quite yet!
This was Sheba, an Alsatian. She came over with us from Wales when we moved here to the states in 1969.
🐶

And this is Lassie (so original), she also came over with us... I think?

This is Sir Winston Churchill, a St. Bernard. All I remember is that he slobbered all over the place and he was my older brother's dog.
Please excuse my outfit, no way would I have chosen to wear that together!

Here's Hannibal, a Great Pyrenees. He was another slobberer, but a sweetie. Also my older brother's dog.

Finally, this is the pup I picked out, little Tigerlily. She was a Pekingese. She was definitely my dog, such a love. And she seemed to speak to you when she snorted, which was quite a lot!

After her, my parents got Beijing, another Peke. He looks like a little terror here!
It's been Pekes for them ever since.

Then there was Tennessee, Tenny for short.

And their most recent addition, Miss Addie. She's a special delivery for sure! She adores my Momma, and the feeling is mutual.

Here is Chewbacca (Chewie), our first dog as a family. He's a rescue and he's supposedly a Lab/Rhodesian Ridgeback. Sometimes it looks like he has a Pit face.

Here he is with his brother, Zoom. DH's best friend adopted him after we told him about Chewie.

I changed the dog for this one, it's little Kita, a cousin's sweet dog.

I stitched this for Karen, sadly she now only has Mr. Henry.
And here's the little turkey himself!

I stitched this for a friend with several dogs, but I still need to fully finish it!

Although I have some sad news with Chewie. We are going to have to rehome him. 95% of the time, he's fantastic. He's been to boot camp x2, listens without much reinforcement, and we finally have his food aggression figured out. BUT, he has bitten me before. I was too near his food I think, and he jumped at my face. The thing we can't seem to correct is his growling at the Gmen, especially Gman2. He hasn't quite learned the pecking order here and fights them over it. Last week when I wasn't home, he bit at Gman2 and got his hand while it was in his pocket. When Chewie growls and shows his teeth, it's quite scary!
I think he needs to be with a single person, or a couple with no children. Although he loves Nathan and his friends when they're over.
This has been a really difficult decision for us, but I can't imagine putting him down. With the right person(s), I think he'd be fine. Or am I wrong to think that will be all it will take?

Shopping at the Beach 🛍

While we're here for a week staying in Sandbridge, near Virginia Beach, I looked to see if there was a nearby stitching shop... Score!
It was only about 1/2 hour away from where we are, so off I went.
Welcome to Dyeing to Stitch

A wall of colour, although I couldn't get them all in the photo.

These next photos don't need an explanation.
I love how they are all finished!

Oh my, these are all so beautiful, stitched just the way I like them as smalls!

Did I really need anything? Nope.
Did I really want everything something? Yep!
I'm all for supporting small businesses, so I felt I needed to help them out just a little bit. 😉
When I get home I'll be looking through my fabric stash so I can start, but which (witch?) one?!

While I was there, multiple orders were being gathered and packaged for posting. So if you need to order anything, expect a quick turnaround!
It was a lovely shop, very friendly and helpful, and I will be shopping there again when we come back to Sandbridge the next time. Maybe next year?

Scavenger Photo Hunt - Friends 📷🥰

Welcome to the first word of the Scavenger Photo Hunt for August. As always, anyone can join in with whatever inspires you and I can always add it after the sign up is closed, just like I'm doing now!
This week's word is -

Friends
Where would we be without our friends? I treasure my friends, my chosen sisters, especially since I have two brothers!

I have been friends with these lovely ladies since we were 5/6 years old in elementary school. We all lived in the same neighbourhood and even now we all live fairly close to each other. We don't get together as often as we used to, but we all know we're here for each other whenever needed.

This friendship started when we met on the QEII when she was 17 and I was 15. Although she lives in Canada and there was a gap with us being in touch, on my 50th we got to see each other when we went to Canada to celebrate. Then I got to see her again when she came to DC for a conference two summers ago.

After that trip, I had a surprise birthday party with more treasured friends!

Now this is a true friend, she works for the Ravens and invited me to the Ravens vs Saints game and "allowed" me to wear my gear! And at the very end of the game, the Saints ended up winning! We're still friends and she even invited me to the pre-season game on Saturday evening when they play each other again. 😜

A true trio of trouble with these two! Oh, the conversations we've had, nothing is taboo!

On Instagram, I've joined in with the #commonthreadedstitcher and it was Stitching Friends day yesterday, how appropriate! You can see it here... astrid.dragonstitches.
I stitched this for dear Karen when she moved back to Maryland and she now lives near me.

This is something I stitched for a friend, but then sadly we had a falling out. Lack of communication on both our parts played a factor, and ever sadder that she ended up dying from cancer that had returned.

See you on Friday for the next hunt - Starts with a S, something should spike your senses?

Summer Blog Hop 2021 👀

I missed last year's Summer Blog Hop, from Jo @Serendipitous Stitching, but this year I'm in!
I'm going to tell you a little bit about my fellow stitcher, and you have to see if you can figure out who she is...

She lives in Europe and has been blogging almost ten years.
🌍
If you've ever wanted to visit her country, you can do so by following her as she posts about it.
👣
Not only does she enjoy cross stitching, but also embroidery, knitting, paper crafts, and the felt crafts are adorable!
🧵
She is very creative in her Olympic coverage.
🏅
Her "baking" and "food" are amazing.
🍩🦐
She is a regular participant of Jo's hops and monthly postings.
📅

Here's something I stitched for my parents years ago, but I think might be nice for her with HER hometown!

Any idea of who I'm posting about?

🇫🇷 🧵 🪡 🧶

Thanks, Jo, for organising this and introducing others to some new blogs!

Scavenger Photo Hunt - July 📷🚲

Welcome to the fifth word of the Scavenger Photo Hunt for July. As always, anyone can join in with whatever inspires you and I can always add it after the sign up is closed.
This week's word is -

Bike
Ah, before the boys! DH's bike now lives in the shed in the back yard. I think the last time he rode it was before Nathan was born in 2006!
One less thing to worry about.

At the beach, taking a bike ride. The Gmen weren't very happy unless we were moving!

The Gmen on their "motor bikes" at Hershey Park. I think this might have been the ride they kept yelling to go faster!

Gman1 riding his first bike.

Gman2 trying out his bike.

And boom, down goes Gman2. They both got knee and elbow pads after that!

My boys and their bikes.

And here's Nathan's bike at the fair!

Hmm, this bike looks familiar! Gman2 helping Nathan out at Laps for Lexi.

Now here's an upgrade for him, but thankfully not ours! Our old neighbour let him borrow it and he loved it. Uh, oh.

Can you spot the bike on this whirligig?
This was in North Carolina when Karen and I met there for her birthday weekend several years ago. It was a fun thing to see, nice and windy and everything was moving!

Couldn't resist this oldie taken by my Dad. I know it's technically a big wheel, but I didn't have a bike yet.

This is the only bike I've stitched. I made for my dear friend, K, and it was supposed to be for her wedding. Now it looks like a solo piece since it didn't work out. No worries, it was all for the best!
And I just noticed I didn't even finish it.

This was their wedding cake - I know I've shown this before for the word Berry, but there are bikes on it too!

Ready or not, here are the words for August.
